PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
- Names changed (it's not uncommon for a place or township (subdistrict) to have one name in one census year and a completely different name in the next)
- Townships (subdistricts) moved (this is especially true if you're looking for a modern day township - they weren't in the same place back in the 1800's)
- Townships (subdistricts) were created/abolished (Townships (subdistricts) that exist today didn't necessarily exist then, and vice versa)
- Townships (subdistricts) were often combined during different enumerations years, especially in 1901.
- Small communities, villages, towns, etc. were not always enumerated separately. If you can't find the place you want, look at the township census.
- If you find the place you're seeking on this list, but cannot locate it on the County/District page, note that some areas were enumerated together and the place you're seeking may be listed under the other area. Use your browser's "find" feature to locate your place name on the County/District page.
If you do not see the place or township (subdistrict) you're seeking in the list above, PLEASE use the Ontario Locator.
