OntarioGenWeb's Census Project now allows you to search over 1.1 MILLION Ontario residents enumerated in census records spanning from the 1790's to 1911.
A huge thank you to the volunteers who helped us with our 2007 goal to transcribe the 1851/2 Ontario census. Because of your generosity we were able to get 75% of this census volunteered for! Help is still needed to reach 100%, if you are unable to help us with our 2008 goal (the 1861 census) please help out with the 1851/2 census. Anyone, anywhere can volunteer as the 1851/2 census is available for transcribing from the comfort of your own home. Sign up here to help complete the 1851/2 Ontario census.
Our 2008 goal is the 1861 census! This census is currently only viewable on microfilm (available worldwide through your local Family History Centre) so we need extra help from anyone who has microfilm access. So step up to the challenge and help get this census year represented! Transcribe a census (or two). If you've benefitted from the use of this site show your appreciation by adding to it - volunteer!
If you have access to the 1861 Ontario census but don't wish to transcribe or proofread PLEASE consider being a copier volunteer. Copiers simply pick a census and copy the images to paper or CD for someone else to transcribe. (If you are doing research why not copy the census you're using so it can be transcribed?)

Since our debut in 1999 we have strived to reach the goal to transcribe every Ontario census and place the transcripts online for free viewing.With the help of numerous volunteers we have been steadily progressing towards this goal BUT help is still needed!
The goal for 2007 is to transcribe 100% of the 1851/2 Ontario census. Please help us reach this goal!
